Home sweet home.

The practices of yoga are about coming home to our true selves. There are many yogic descriptions of this home within: Sat, Chit, Ananda, Ritam, Brahman, God. Movement, breath, mudras, the study of the sacred texts are all techniques to help us see this inner Truth clearly.

And there are levels of understanding. Of course there are! Even during a practice of yoga there are highs and lows, moments of enlightenment and times when you just want to get out of your practice and on with your day.

But yoga on the mat is your yoga in the world. Practicing on your mat is beautiful preparation to be aligned with the world in gentler, more kinder ways.

The Sunday yogi just returned from a business trip to the mainland. The main purpose of our practice today was to truly arrive home, even though he’s been back for a week. We tried to capture any unnecessary tension and dissolve it with breath and the following yoga practice.
