Me and abhinivesha are old friends.

This is the penultimate Monday class on the Grassy Knoll. I love this practice with all my heart. And, also, at the same time, feels like it has fulfilled it’s purpose. I can’t hang out on the Grassy Knoll forever, though part of me wishes I could.

This is partly what yogis call raga..attachment to pleasure. It's even more abhinivesha, attachment to the status quo. Change is hard to do, especially if you’re comfortable. And I’m super cozy on the Grassy Knoll.

It’s not lost on me that i’m moving my practice to a studio called Maui Yoga Path, because Maui and Yoga are two of my most powerful teachers. I’ve long visualized a studio with an. oceanview, and. you can’t get too much closer to the ocean that where we will be holding our classes. Through the pandemic, yoga has relieved me of enough anxiety to leave my house. The Grassy Knoll yogis have allowed me to feel safe with people again and while it’s tempting to hang out here, there is also a distant call that beckons expansion.

With every fiber of my body I feel yoga helps the world. And If I want to align with my heart, there is only one choice to make here, to.say yes at this beautiful opportunity to share yoga more often, and with more people.

Change is hard, even if it’s what you want to do. So often i hear the instruction “open your heart” in several yoga classes, but no reference to the fact that it’s hard to do, in earnest. The techniques of yoga help us, in the most personal of ways, but what counts is how we show up in the collective.

Anyway, this move to Maui Yoga Path feels like part of the journey to learn how to do that. Safely, In a sweet community. And oceanside, wow.
