A Little Leo With Our Lunges: Teaching Yoga on the Grassy Knoll: August 9, 2021
The New Moon in Leo asks us to throw into the fire anything that is standing in the way of our dreams. Our practice this morning honored those energies, body, breath and spirit. We can read horoscopes all day long, but what is it to really feel the information, process it, and use it for awakening energies? The asana practice helps us do that.
One of the reasons I love our Grassy Knoll practice is because it allows plenty of room to experiment with sharing the yoga practice. Can I talk about the zodiac? Can I bring in the phases of the moon while still maintaining alignments of hips and knees? It's a lot to wrangle, but it's harder to keep my heart’s desires down, hidden from literally, the light of day. The teachings of yoga demand authenticity, as does this New Moon in Leo, and for that matter this pandemic.
Yes, it's a lot to wrangle. Yet, it's a worthwhile struggle. Especially when you know you're in the presence of yogis.
And in fact, it can actually be a ton of fun, like it was this morning at 7am on the Grassy Knoll.
