Waves of Awareness: Teaching Yoga on the Grassy Knoll: August 18, 2021: Kihei, HI
There are unseasonably big waves in south maui these days. This is exactly how my mind has felt the past week. Rolling waves of worry and anxiety, bigger than usual. Not totally without “reason” yet i couldn’t stop them even though I know it doesn’t solve anything.
But I was able to settle myself. To pull myself to the here and now, which is really the only place that’s calm and the only real possibility to be in my Truth.
“Yoga is the quieting of the mind” is the second yoga sutra. The techniques are. here to help us do that..the moving, the breathing, directing the mind, stretching and bending our bodies. There’s not a lot of mystery to yoga. But it’s completely full of magic.
For the practices of yoga, I am grateful. They saved me, once again, from drowning.
