Lift from Underneath: Iyengar Yoga in at 12South Yoga: Nashville, TN: July 2, 2017

I love the practice of yoga for many reasons. One is that it helps me see new aspects of self, new ways I'm made up, and strenghtens new muscles. Especially the learning muscle.

Today's instruction lift the skin forward and up on the interior armpit opened and lifted my heart in a new way. On a surface level, it pulled my shoulder blades down and flatter on my back and widened my collar bones. I think its the serratus anterior but I'm learning more about all that.

More important though was the lifting from the underside, the lifting from underneath. I'm in the midst of retaking Ravi Ravindra's course on the Bhagavad Gita and reading his new wonderful book. I"m also in the midst of You're A Badass at Making Money. I'm reminded it all happens from the underneath, the thoughts. To change anything and to move forward and up in life requires a mindset to do such.

Learning to lift from underneath feels awesome on my body. It's not always easy to shift my mindset to stay lifted and light, but that is the real practice.
