Superbowl Sunday: Yoga for Game Watching: Teaching A Private: February 7, 2021: Wailea, HI
Superbowl Sunday. Such a fun day, party or no party, which is a good thing because people around these parts aren't gathering this year.
One of the overarching lessons of yoga is that we can take responsibility for how we feel, no matter what. There's many things that make Superbowl watching fun, many of them external… good food and drink, friendly wagers, better than usual commercials…But also we can ensure we have optimal viewing pleasure by being comfortable in our own bodies. Sitting for "too long" can be hard on our whole bodies, especially the hips, so we did some yoga together that make sitting for the game a game changer. We strengthened and stretched our hips and took our whole body along for a pre-game ride.
Often me and the Sunday yogi start with a deep hip stretch and them come to standing to strengthen, but today we did the opposite. We started with active standing poses and make our way to deep hip stretches before we rested in savasana.
