Closer and Closer: Teaching Yoga on the Grassy Knoll: December 20, 2020: Kihei, HI
The great conjunction is upon us. We practiced together at sunset under the magical skies where Saturn and Jupiter come closer and closer together. Tomorrow is the big day where the join. This hasn't happened for 800 years.
And in truth, it never has, in exactly this way. Because here on earth we had four socially distanced bodies in our own alignments. It is said the cosmic blueprint of a person only happens once in 25,000 years. That's a lot of energy to consider. I mean, what are the odds these four human energies come together under the the skies of the almost-great conjunction of 2020?
I subbed this class; it’s not my usual. I know these yogis mainly from practicing with them, being on the same side of the mat, so to speak. We've gotten friendly, like you do with fellow yogis, and, we too are getting closer and closer. I felt nice to share a class tonight. It sure feels awesome to be building community here on Maui.
As the pandemic deepens ,so does the stretch in my heart. In many ways I feel I'm growing closer and closer to my dharma.
I'm not sure it ever gets easier, completely, to teach yoga. I always have fluttering butterflies before a class. But subbing this class tonight I was clear as the night sky that saying 'no' to an opportunity to teach because I'm afraid, or just plain lazy, is no longer an option.
