Don't Worry, Be Happy: Teaching Flow and Restore at 808 Wellness: June 28, 2019: Kihei, Maui, HI
Erich Schiffman said, "love is the willingness to recognize that which is real", and what's required is time to get still and quiet and look within. It's be hot here in Maui, and I've been moving slower than usual, which is already at a pretty leisurely pace. Maui is teaching me to relax.
Going slow lets me be a yoga geek while the young, pretty yogis zoom by. I love them for this and I play along. It helps keep me young and fit. But for my deep inner work, slow is way better for me. Like sitting on the beach and not doing much else than watch the sun set.
I offered the "worried breath" experiment in class today, partly because I'm going to be offering it in Tuesday's New Moon Journaling workshop, and partly as a reminder to myself to stop worrying about everything so much. Slowing down has allowed me to see that aspect of myself. I don't like it so much but I do love unraveling what's making me spin in the midst of such stillness. So, that's what we talked about today and we did some poses. We used some alignments like friendliness, kindness, maitri, gratitude, and a willingness to be surprised to help us with our tight spots.
