Better Than Free Coffee: Teaching Flow and Restore at 808 Wellness: Kihei, Maui, HI: May 24, 2019
Early this morning I took a walk along Keawakapu Beach to the Andaz for "free coffee", which is to say, partake of the lobby coffee they serve in the morning for their guests. I justify drinking an occasional cup because we go there often to both the restaurants and the spa, when it decidedly not free at all. Part of me sees I'm in violation of asteya, but I can't seem to yet break the habit.
However I have been breaking the habit of feeling useless, worthless, not smart enough, not pretty enough..not enough anything. It's still in there, I"m a little addicted just like I am to the "free coffee" because it is just too comfortable to stay there. The morning walk on Keawakapu is one of the most glorious, the mental hanging on unworthiness a big excuse to stay small and proceed into my dreams partially kicking and screaming.
Every now and then I catch myself. In the yoga class before my yoga class I started wondering if anybody will show up for my class, if I'm a good teacher, if I'm on the right path...if, if, if...
I sent some reiki to my future class, wished upon the universe for a full class, began to consider myself a really good teacher, not in an ego way, but in a dharma way. This is the life I so want..to live in Maui, walk the beach, good coffee, and great yoga.
People did show up. I ditched my lesson plans and connected in with each of them before we began, and then taught from my heart. I took refuge in the Yoga, which in the end, is what I really want to drink in. Even more than "free coffee".
