Be Here Now: Teaching Flow and Restore at 808 Wellness: Kihei, Maui, HI: December 27, 2019

Ram Dass made an appearance at KD’s kirtan a few weeks ago. Even from afar he exuded love and peace. He will be missed but his teachings live on, of course. He was a truth teller.

Ram Dass made an appearance at KD’s kirtan a few weeks ago. Even from afar he exuded love and peace. He will be missed but his teachings live on, of course. He was a truth teller.

I left out a whole section of class I planned on teaching. Completely forget it. Simultaneously, I was delighted to have a lot of extra time, the opportunity to be spontaneous and creative. Instead of beating myself up about it, it seems like this is a useful pattern: To drop perfection in favor of letting what needs to fall away, fall away, and letting what needs to come in, come in.The yoga sutras might say it with abhyasa viragia byham tan nirodahah (sutra 1.12), equal parts effort in practice and surrender is yoga in the here and now. It is a quality of being.

The instructions are simple, the balance is complex. Ram Dass famously said, “Be Here Now” which can help us navigate these waters. One of the places we can begin to catch this teaching is in the body. We let the alignments of grounded, centered and open for grace hold us today.
