A New Look At Warrior: Yoga Bound with Shelly: Carlsbad, CA: January 13, 2016

A few days of travel and back to back shows is challenging to my body and mind. I get cranky.

So you can imagine my happiness to land in southern California, in Carlsbad, where my good girlfriend Jan lives. We'd prearranged a meet up and I took the liberty to get off the bus and into her lovely home, take a day off and have a day to do things like a "normal" person. Don't get me wrong that I don't like what I do, its just its is foreign to my usual way that it takes massive amounts of practice to say cheerful and easygoing with so much happening on the road.

Walked from Jan's 1.2 miles to a new-to-me Carlsbad studio, Yoga Bound. (If I'd had a car I would have ventured to Yoga Oceanside). Yet super delighted to join class at Yoga Bound.

One of the things I love the most about learning from so many yogis is new attention to new details of things that have been here all along. Like class today it was about forearms and inner thighs. Never once have I given so much attention to my forearms, and finally I could see my inner thighs without cringing.

The lifting and rolling of the inner thighs upwards in Warrior I opened my low back with a ahhh of new freedom. Simultaneously I've been rereading Ravi Ravindra's wonderful article on ahimsa, transformation, and ecology and realigning with ahmisa as non-violation. Transformation always has intention. There is a warrior needed to allow the higher self rise out of the muck of the lower self. For me there is a practice needed to show me all of life, all of self, to see what's always been here...love, bliss, that deep relief of freedom from the small self.

After class I walked over for a fresh pressed juice, Jan picked me up and we went shopping where I found a pair of awesome terra cotta warriors which will be placed on either side of my front door at home, holding space in Nevada and in my heart, and just waiting for my return from this tour in March.

Namaste!
