Fingers to Tippie Toes: Let's Yoga Together: Teaching Yoga at the Grassy Knoll: Kihei, HI: December 7, 2020
Yogic sages have emphasized that all realization is a matter of human effort and divine grace. It’s both a matter of strength and surrender. I know this intellectually, but lately have found balance poses to be my biggest teacher in learning how to find that bothness and not the place of either-or.
And in doing so I’ve become fascinated with the ankle joint. This tiny joint that holds us steady in our our standing daily life. These three bones are miraculous, really, and while I've got my attention held here , I’m also doing my best to experience the miraculous in all of life.
As we practiced today on the grassy knoll of our outdoor yoga studio while balancing in tree pose, one of the yogis exclaimed, “wow, look at the moon”. This prompted an unexpected gaze skywards and a massive collective sense of wonder and joy among us.
Being open to the miraculous is just like that…diligent effort to find strength and balance and then lifting your gaze to the vastness that surrounds and holds us with beauty and grace.
