Do Small Things With Great Love: Teaching Flow and Restore at 808 Wellness: November 26, 2018: Kihei, Maui, Hawaii
I went to see my friend Nancy this week. She rescued a baby deer from the womb of her dying mother. Its all to complicated to go into here, but suffice it to say taking care of this animal has been an act of love of the most extraordinary measure. Now more than a year old, you can feed her apples and hibiscus flowers by hand, rub her head, and even lean in and give her a little kiss. The love that's surrounded this animal perfumed the air and being in her presence was real world fairy tale magic.
MLK said, "darkness doesn't drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate doesn't drive out hate, only love can do that". All the teachings of yoga help us see that Love heals everything. I've been struggling with, I don't even know what it is, this weird mix of fatigue, sadness, overwhelm and anxiety, and am starting to pull though it mainly because I've put Love and Self Care on top of my daily to do list. Its a quiet journey, and while the sights of Maui are spectacular, the time with my own heart has been the most awesome view and I've found the only real medicine has been love.
So that's what we talked about today in practice. Love. Its my favorite practice to teach because its my favorite practice to learn.
Teaching yoga is one small way I can give great love back to the world.
