Super deep twist with Katherine: Uptown Yoga: Dallas, Texas: Janaury 28, 2016
This was the short version of our trip to the doctor's office in Dallas yesterday. David was placed on voice rest. He's not doing a great job at it, and I'm probably not awesome at keeping the peace as I'm disappointed and upset and the whole apple cart is turned over. Obviously the Universe is trying her best to teach me to honor twists and turns in life.
The yoga classes at Uptown are faster paced and way harder than most classes I've taken, generally speaking. I can actually see my judgement come up. But the most miraculous thing happened...I decided to love love lovey dove it. How often do I get to rock the poses like a 20 year old? It actually feels really good and is super fun.
And the classes are only an hour. I can do almost anything for only an hour and have a pretty good time.
In alignment with life, Katherine offered a super deep twist I've never done before or even heard of.
Starting with this locust variation, roll to the opposite side of the straight leg (i.e. right knee bent, left leg straight, roll to the right). My shoulders tended to get super crunchy, and Kathleen helped me relax them to enhance the twist.
The whole pose was a surprise to my whole body...it was a lot happening and it was key to stay in it. Not to figure it all out but rather meet it all with a WOW, which is one of Erich Schiffmann's favorite mantras, by the way.
The 60 minute practice was full of fun surprises, not the least of all was allowing the grip of my mind to say wow, thank you, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Namaste
