Achilles' Heal: Yoga with Sally at Yoga Sol in Carson City. 12. 18. 15

Sages are always suggestion to relax the mind enough to find your path exactly where you are standing. Maybe this is why The Road is such an important practice for me. The allure of greener grass is sexy, crafty, and oh so lethal.

Whist I'm still in a mild state of shock from moving to Carson City, and still in even more shock that I actually like it,  I've come to meet an exceptional teacher for me. Right here in Carson City, of all places. Thank God. I have been so scared that I was going to starve.

One of the reasons I love Sally's instructions is that she so very skillfully guides me into places I've never seen and frankly have been afraid to go with out the help of someone I trust. In the midst of some challenging poses like 5 minute headstand, handstand II, and scorpion, Sally gave such a subtle instruction that I was tempted to blow it off.

"Thin your Achilles Heal"

Really? That's supposed to help me in revolved triangle? And of course it did.

The continual practice of relaxing my mind and holding my attention steady is my own Achilles Heal. Allowing this vulnerability to be nourished and seen magically allowed me to stretch my heart and open deeper. I can see it on the mat, and it helps me so much in the world.

Letting go of anything but the present moment is harder than any pose my body may or may never do. And it is also the most exhilarating. And low and behold I find myself upside down in handstand perfectly balanced and at ease with myself and the world. My achilles heal wide open and breathing in the grace so clearly visible from unexpected angels and happy ankles.

Namaste.
